Overview

This exciting new tour focuses on an iconic pairing: traditional Korean rice wine and gorgeous hand-crafted Korean ceramics.  Explore the delights of a pottery village, sample some of Korea’s healthiest gastronomic offerings, and explore two breweries producing some of Korea’s greatest rice wines.

Come with us to Icheon Ceramics Village, home to some of Korea’s most revered masters in this craft.  You’ll learn about the multifaceted world of Korean pottery and its connection to fermentation, and you’ll have the opportunity to browse through the ample selection of ceramics for sale across the village.  With the passion of the artisans and the beautiful selection of products on offer, it’ll be difficult to leave empty-handed.

At Okhwa Food Gallery, you’ll have the chance to try some of the healthiest and tastiest food Korea has to offer.  Infused with medicinal herbs that are as beneficial to your health as they are delicious, the food here makes for a unique gastronomic experience.

Next up is the Joeun Sool brewery, which produces the award-winning Cheonbihyang takju (rice wine).  Here, you’ll be treated to a tour of the brewery, a fantastic hands-on makgeolli jam-making experience and a guided tasting of some of the brewery’s delicious rice wine.

At the second brewery, which produces Tiger Belly Button makgeolli, you’ll be led by the brewery’s representative, who is also a junchi kimchi myeongin.  Holding a revered position in the culinary world, each myeongin is a skilled artisan and specialist in their gastronomic field.  Under their guidance, you’ll try Tiger Belly Button’s sumptuous makgeolli and experience different pairings.

Our guide, a professional chef and traditional Korean alcohol specialist, will be there every step of the way to give you all the valuable insight you need into the fascinating history, science and culture of Korea’s food and drink.
